According to the results of the expert commission for the evaluation of furs, 14 certificates "Champion" for mink skins of different species were awarded, 9 of which were received by LLC "Mekha" and 5 certificates "Champion" for the skins of mink and silver-black fox were received by LLC "Zveroplemzavod Savvatevo" of Kalinin district.
Among the 12 regions that compose the National Association of Farmers of Russia, Tver region occupies a leading position, together with the Kaliningrad region, on the number of livestock of fur animals. At the fur farms of Tver region, there are more than 120 000 heads of breeder mink, more than 6.6 thousands of sable, more than 1 000 of foxes, according to the website of the regional Ministry of Agriculture.
In LLC "Mekha" of Kalinin district a new breed of fur animals was raised. It is polecat "Tver pastel", which is included in the State register of breeding achievements permitted for use, according to the NIA, Tver.
